Stewardship program

In 2016 a team of students from BCIT’s Fish, Wildlife and Recreation program mapped out some of the biggest Invasive plant culprits at Boundary Bay Regional Park: Himalayan blackberry, reed canarygrass, spurge-laurel, and Scotch broom.

Invasive plants are harmful to the local ecosystem for many reasons, including that they create monocultures, push out local plants, and can cause erosion.

In 2017 we started a regular stewardship program – To learn about our success last year check out this page!
