Father’s Day is celebrated in many ways by different cultures and in different countries, but here in South Delta it follows the long established tradition of being held on the third Sunday in June. Once again families will gather at Centennial Beach on Sunday, June 19th between 9.00am and Noon to honor Dad with a pancake breakfast during our annual “Sunday in the Park” event.
Hosted by the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club jointly with Boundary Bay Park Association, the breakfast cost is reasonable at $6 for adults and $3 for children. Fun activities add to the ambience of the event as the band “Kindred Spirits” entertains there will be several interesting and educational displays to browse through, and the children’s playground is in close proximity. Enter off Boundary Bay Road at Cammidge House and ample free parking is available.
Lions club volunteers prepare breakfast in their mobile kitchen where, judging from previous years’ attendance, their service abilities are top rate. In the event the weather is less than perfect, the picnic shelters provide good protection.
Boundary Bay Park Association President, FRANK ROGERS eagerly looks forward to this function honoring Dads, “Father’s Day has always been set aside to celebrate fatherhood or any paternal figure who has shown guidance and influence in the raising of a child. It truly is meaningful.”
Everyone is welcome to head down to Centennial Beach on Sunday, June 19th and enjoy this opportunity to create another magical family memory.
