Birds in Focus – Photography Workshop, Sunday April 17, 2016

On Sunday morning a group of 7 keen photographers joined our photography workshop led by Ursula Easterbrook, our seasoned Tsawwassenite nature photographer guru at Cammidge House.

Ursula showed many of her favorite photographs and discussed how they were taken; from a practical, artistic and technical aspect. She also covered the basics of digital photography and the equipment required to take good pictures. Throughout the presentation Ursula stressed the importance of nature ethics, common sense and lots and lots of patience when attempting the photograph wild life.

Tasty snacks and beverages provided by the Boundary Bay Park Association members were gratefully enjoyed by the participants.

Two handlers and 3 raptors, one Falcon and Two Harris Hawks,  from the Raptor Ranch joined us for the practical session of the workshop to provide the photogs an opportunity to practice their newly acquired knowledge. Nina did an excellent job of telling us about the Raptor Ranch and provided an in depth discussion of each of the birds while she and her partner posed with the birds. We were joined by a couple from Sechelt for the photo session.

Raptor Ranch is a Bird of Prey center located in Aldergrove, BC Canada. The center focuses on rescue, rehabilitation and quality of life for Birds of Prey in captivity. Their most popular presentations focus on working animals in captivity and providing them a purpose and a quality of life.

Check out our BBPA Pictures page for more photos of the event.
