Eleven summer seasons have passed since HARRY CAINE, former Delta Citizen of the Year returned from New Zealand with a special project on his mind. Through Harry’s initial efforts the twelfth season of South Delta’s popular car boot sales has been announced. An idea that originated in Britain, but has resonated to many other countries.
The Boundary Bay Park Association, formerly known as the Cammidge House Volunteers Committee and event co-ordinator TOM BEARSS have formulated the schedule with the first Boot Sale to be held Saturday, JUNE 13TH, 2015 between 8.30am and noon, thereafter on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. The second sale will be June 27th and following sales through July and August with only one in September on the 12th, will be announced in the Coming Events Column of this newspaper as well as on the website www.boundarybayparkassociation.wordpress.com.
All sales are held in the Centennial Beach Parking area near the tennis courts. Lots of parking is available and the location simple to find. Turn left off Boundary Bay Road near Cammidge House and follow signs to the designated area. Boundary Bay Park Association volunteers will be on hand to offer guidance. Coffee and cookies will be available.
The fee for vendors is only $10.00 and this will supply two parking stalls – one for their vehicle and one for display of goods. Vendors are requested to bring a tarpaulin or ground sheet as well as any special requirements. Set up of displays commences at 8.00am and must be complete by 8.30am when the event opens and dismantled between 12 noon and 12.30 p.m.
Vendors who have participated in the Car Boot Sales in previous years have ranged from families clearing out unwanted items, apartment dwellers as well as local organizations who have seized the opportunity to use the occasion as fund raisers for worthwhile causes.
Tom Bearss commented “Stall holders are knowledgeable and most helpful to prospective buyers. Even if a newbie is starting out on a search for a great second hand piece or treasure, the car boot Sales offer a variety of merchandise”.

Funds raised by BBPA are put to good use in supporting community events either in Cammidge House or in the Park – the next of which will be the Father’s Day Breakfast on Sunday, June 21st.
